Denver Metcalf, age 90, of Grant’s Lick, KY passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2024. He was born on December 11, 1933, in Maulden (now Tyler), Jackson County, KY. Denver served his country in the United States Army, spending 16 months in South Korea. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. Denver worked as a welder and retired from Littleford Brothers in Florence, KY. Denver loved the Lord Jesus and served as a deacon for many years. He also helped with various church projects as well as driving the church van. Denver loved his family and was a devoted family man. He also enjoyed woodworking stamp collecting, gardening, yardwork, being outdoors and spending time with his fur babies, Charlie, Joe and Daisey. Denver was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Claude and Lucinda (nee Hudson) Metcalf and six brothers and sisters. Those left to mourn his passing are his loving wife of 68 years, Shirley (nee Roaden) Metcalf; sister, Pauline Johnson of Germantown, OH; three sons, Michael (Diana) Metcalf of Alexandria, KY, Steven (Melissa) Metcalf of Middletown, OH and David Metcalf of Grant’s Lick, KY; as well as other relatives and friends. A visitation celebrating Denver’s life will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 5336 Old Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, KY 41015. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Denver will then be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
