Beloved Son, Brother, Grandson, Nephew, Cousin & Friend
Derek J. Heath passed away Friday, May 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 33, after a courageous and hard fought battle with melanoma. He was born in Lowell on January 9, 1992, beloved son of Erin (Gilbride) and Derek Heath of Lowell.
He graduated from Lowell Catholic High School in 2010, where he played sports and made lifelong friendships. Upon graduating from high school, he found his passion in the machining industry, where he was currently working as a machinist for A G Centerless Grinding Co. This is where co-workers became family and he enjoyed his time spent working.
Derek loved music and attending concerts and festivals, especially the local Boston Calling. He had a very fun, loving personality, which his family and friends gravitated towards. Everyone had a blast while in his company and he was adored by his younger second cousins; Sloan (5,) Glenn (8) and Wyatt (5.)
He was always good for a fun fact and enjoyed game nights at family celebrations. He cherished his time at the family mountain house, taking trips to the beach and traveling with his friends.
Along with his parents, Erin and Derek, Derek will be deeply missed by his siblings, Kelsey Berger and her husband, Clark of Wakefield and Logan Heath of Lowell; his paternal grandfather, David Heath of Tewksbury; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Carol Gilbride of Lowell; his Godparents, Aunt Kelly Berard of Dracut and Uncle David A. Heath of Virginia Beach, VA; his uncles, John Mahoney of Lowell, Ken Berard and his partner, Sue Frechette of Lowell and Robert Heath of Lowell; as well as his cousins, Ryan, Lisa, Laurel, Sean, Joe, Elizabeth, Jacky, Isabel and Matt.
Derek is predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Joyce Heath and his paternal aunt, Michelle Mahoney.
Relatives and friends are invited to Derek’s Life Celebration on Friday, June 6, 2025 from 4 until 8 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, 144 E Merrimack Street, Lowell. KINDLY MEET AT CHURCH. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
