Derek C. Henderson

Derek Henderson, aged 71, of Zirconia, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 2, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. Born on April 26, 1953 in Bat Cave, North Carolina, Derek was the beloved child of Clyde and Mary Henderson and Darlene Sargent. He lived a life filled with love, kindness, and dedication to his family and community.
Derek was a graduate of West Henderson High School and went on to serve in the United States Air Force and National Guard. He would then start his career at General Electric and retire after 35 years.
Derek was a devoted husband to his wife Donieca, for 46 years of marriage. Derek was a loving parent to Joshua, Holly and Diana; and a cherished father-in-law to Cain Murray and Dustin Sweigard. He will be remembered for his generosity, hard work, and unwavering patriotism. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the memories he created.
Derek is survived by his brothers, Quay, Joe, Roy and Mark; and his sisters, Donna, Kim and Jeannie; and his grandchildren, Isabella, Wesley, Leila, Samuel, Analee, Avery, Levi, Clayton and Aliyah.
A celebration of Derek's life will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Tuxedo Baptist Church Cemetery.
Derek will be deeply missed but his spirit will remain in our hearts forever.
