Derek Hodge Obituary

Derek was born on February 28, 1955 in Tennessee to the late Dorothy Germonte and James Leon Hodge.
Derek was an accomplished Sheetmetal fabricator and aircraft restoration specialist. He worked as an Aircraft Technician at the Maryland Airport. He was licensed both A & P mechanic and (IA) Inspection Authorization. He previously worked at the Smithsonian Institute where he took great pride in his work restoring a MIG 15 recoilless cannon and various aircraft from WWII, most notably the B29 Enola Gay. He was an excellent motorcycle mechanic spending many years at R&R cycle. He loved cats, aircrafts, motorcycles, and all things WWII military history.
Derek is survived by brothers; Keith Hodge, Russell A Hodge with wife Linda; and sister, Darla Faye Hodge.
Visitation will be on Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 5:00 PM until time of Service at 7:00 PM at Raymond Funeral Service, 5635 Washington Ave, La Plata, MD 20646. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are asked to be made to the Humane Society of Charles County, 71 Industrial Park Drive, Waldorf, MD 20602
