Derek Vincent Mitchell

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Derek Vincent Mitchell, 65, of Warminster, PA, who left this world on March 17, 2025. Born at Fort Ord, CA, to the late Peter and Joanne Mitchell, Derek lived a life defined by dedication, selflessness, and unwavering love. A proud veteran, Derek served in the United States Navy for 20 years, embodying courage, loyalty, and commitment. After his military career, he continued his lifelong mission of service as an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) professional for 34 years. His passion for helping others extended far beyond his daily work-he mentored and taught future EMS professionals, instilling in them the same compassion, integrity, and devotion that guided his own life. Beyond his career, Derek was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He and his beloved wife, Abigail, shared 27 beautiful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Whether traveling together, enjoying quiet evenings at home, or simply holding hands, their bond was a testament to enduring love. Derek found joy in life's simple pleasures-immersing himself in a good book, exploring new places, and spending time with his beloved dogs. But above all, his greatest happiness was his family. He was a source of unwavering strength and unconditional love to his children, Christopher (Cheyenne), Andrew, and Rebecca, and his kindness extended to all who were fortunate enough to know him. Derek's presence was a gift, and his absence leaves an immeasurable void. His legacy of service, love, and generosity will live on in the lives he touched. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Derek's life at his Viewing: • Tuesday, March 25, 2025 | 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM • Wednesday, March 26, 2025 | 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, followed by a service at The Decker/Givnish Funeral Home, 216 York Road, Warminster, PA 18974 Interment with military honors will take place on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 9:30 AM at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd, Newtown, PA 18940. Though Derek has left this world, his kindness, dedication, and love will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
