Derek L. Patterson

Derek L. Patterson, 65, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024 at his home. 

He was born May 10, 1959 in Monmouth, the son of James Russell, Jr. and Theresa L. Patterson. Derek was raised and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1977. He later attended Clinton Community College.  

Derek worked at Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg, Western Stoneware in Monmouth, and Wells Pet Food in Monmouth. He also worked as a self-employed carpenter for many years. Derek loved playing and watching baseball. He was very handy and always willing to help his family and friends.  

Survivors include his children, Rendon (Elizabeth) Patterson of Monmouth, IL, Jordan Salyers of Arvada, CO, Kealiah Randolph of Galesburg, IL; step son, Lafayette Randolph of Monmouth, IL; his sister, Kimberleigh (Michael Grant, Sr.) Patterson-Nair of Monmouth, IL; fifteen grandchildren, Latrell, Kenyon, Trey, Kya, Kierra, Kam’ren, Alani, Katiana, Olivia, Ayanna, Aisha, Kalayah, Kaliyah, Xzaviyanah, Kaeyanah; his uncles, Harry Patterson of GA, John Russell of Atlanta, GA, Dave Russell of TX, and Damascus Russell of Las Vegas, NV; his aunts, Sharon Patterson of Monmouth, IL, Pinky Morgan of Racine, WI. Also surviving are numerous cousins.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  

Funeral Services will be at Noon, November 16, 2024 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00am-12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery, Monmouth, IL. Memorials can be made to the Derek Patterson Memorial Fund. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
