Derrek Cole Eaves

Mr. Derrek Cole Eaves, age 32, of 138 Edgewood Dr, Union, passed away, Sunday, December 14, 2025.

Mr. Eaves was born January 15, 1993, in Spartanburg, a son of James Eaves and the late Wendy Horne Eaves. He was a graduate of Union County High School and was a member of Oakbrook Community Church. Derrek loved spending time with family, watching movies, and cooking (especially lasagna). Derek also had a tremendous love of dogs.

Surviving in addition to his father, James, are his paternal grandmother, Emily Eaves of Jonesville, a sister, Jennifer Eaves Jones and her husband, Jason of Union, an aunt, Lorraine Garner and her husband, Phil of Union, an uncle, Eric Eaves and his wife, Shana of Jonesville, an aunt, Kim Horne Roark and her husband Tommy of Jonesville and an aunt, Julie Horne of Jonesville. Derrek is also survived by nephews, RJ and Alex Wilkins and Will Eaves and a very special friend, Mika Cooper. He is also survived by a number of cousins that he loved and who loved him. In addition to his mother, Wendy, Derrek was predeceased by uncles, Victor Horne, Jr. and Rod Horne, his maternal grandparents, Victor Eugene Horne, Sr. and Elizabeth Knox Horne Davis and his paternal grandfather, James “Cotton” Eaves.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Oakbrook Community Church conducted by Rev. Randy Burgess and Rev. Shawn Ingle. Burial will follow at Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Kenny Jennings, Chris Gregory, Josh Lipsey, Trent Horne, Gage Eaves, and Doran Eaves.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the church.

The family is at the home of his aunt and uncle, Lorraine and Phil Garner of 146 Oakland Road, Union.
