SHELBY: Born November 3, 1938 to the late Everette Hollifield and Sarah Green Hollifield, Cleveland County, NC. Passed away on October 4, 2025 at his residence.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Hollifield, his siblings, Clara Alexander, Gene Hollifield and Eckels Hollifield; and son-in-law, Thurman Kinsey.
He is survived by his four children: Daughters; Gena Kinsey, Boiling Springs, SC, Donna Hollifield, Shelby, NC, and, Kammie Hollifield (Jeff Wesson), Shelby, NC, and, Son - Brian Hollifield (Lara), Surfside Beach, SC. Six Grandchildren: Meredith Harmon (Bryan), Linville Falls, NC Elijah Derrell Weaver, Shelby, NC, Manda Fauble (Jeff), Mooresboro, NC, Monica Bridges (Chad), Shelby, NC, Meagan Hamrick (Richie), Mooresboro, NC, Matthew Kinsey, Boiling Springs, SC, and Eleven Great Grandchildren: Jackson, Maddie, Jacob and Summer Harmon; Logan Freeman and Nya Kinsey; Jordyn and Connor Bridges; and Janna, Jurnee and Judson Hamrick.
Also survived by his sister, Brenda Hamilton (Bob), Lancaster, SC and sisters-in-law Sybil Hollifield, Shelby, NC and Ivey Hollifield, Newton, NC.
Derrell was an auto body repairman for over 50 years. He was the owner/operator of Number Three Body Shop, once known as Hollifield’s Body Shop. He was formerly a public servant for No. 3 Fire Department and also enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, and was an avid golfer for many years, and a lifelong member of Zoar Baptist Church, Shelby, NC.
The family will have a memorial service to honor Derrell's life on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 12:00PM at Zoar Baptist Church, Shelby, NC, with a receiving of friends one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are entrusted to Clay-Barnette Funerals, Cremations, and Aquamation Center, 1401 West Dixon Blvd Shelby, NC 28152.
