DERRICK DEWAYNE THOMPSON, a cherished son, loving brother, and devoted father, passed away on December 8, 2024, in the city where his journey began—Dallas, Texas—on July 5, 1971. Throughout his life, Derrick embodied loyalty and laughter, a warm spirit with a caring heart that touched everyone who was fortunate to him.
As a proud graduate of South Oak Cliff High School, Derrick propelled himself into a career as a diligent security guard, dedicated to providing safety and peace of mind for others. But it is his culinary prowess that fondly resides in the hearts of those who remember the delicious way he fried chicken at Hall's Chicken. Cooking was not merely a pastime for Derrick; it was a passion, a form of love poured into gatherings where family and friends could bask in the flavors of his creations.
Derrick was not only an exceptional cook but also a passionate sports fan, fervently cheering for his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He thrived within the embrace of family gatherings filled with laughter, camaraderie, and spirited games of dominoes, creating endless memories that will forever be cherished.
At the core of Derrick’s life were his proudest achievements—his children and grandchildren, whom he loved fiercely. A go-getter at heart, his hardworking nature was evident in every endeavor he undertook, embodying the essence of what it meant to be family-oriented and devoted.
The memory of Derrick’s loving nature will echo through the lives he touched.
