Desiree Lynn Galatas Calamari

Desiree Lynn Galatas Calamari, age 57, went to be with the Lord on May 25, 2024. She was a life-long resident of Slidell, Louisiana, born on July 25, 1966 to her loving parents, the late Wesley Galatas and Diane Smith Galatas.
Desiree is the beloved wife of 35 years to Randy Calamari; cherished mother of Erika Calamari Puntila (Austin Puntila), Elizabeth Calamari Guillot (Andrew Guillot), Kristin Calamari (Austin Jackson), and Victoria Calamari; proud grandmother of Adaline Puntila and Walker Puntila; and treasured sister of Dawn Prentice and Darla Waldrop. She also leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends, all of whom she loved dearly.
Desiree graduated from Saint Margaret Mary and then Pope John Paul II High School with the Class of 1984. Her education continued at Southeastern University, where she earned a Bachelor Degree in Family and Consumer Services and was later employed with Access Health WIC Clinic. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, being outdoors, working in the yard with her dogs nearby, and playing sports in the past, but she loved nothing more than the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Desiree's faith was the foundation of her life and she was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She will fondly be remembered for her caring nature and her ability to bring a smile and laughter to everyone around her. Desiree will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Desiree's family would like to thank everyone for their outpouring of prayers, offering meals, visits, and love and support over the past two years of Desiree's cancer journey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Slidell. A Funeral Mass will begin at noon.
