DeVaughn Evans Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bennie Smith Funeral Homes - Salisbury on Jan. 3, 2024.
Mark's Story, Mark's Song
A Gift: DeVaughn Marcus Evans, son of the late Lee Simpson and JoAnn Evans, was born on July 30, 1975, in Salisbury, MD and departed this life on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
Education: DeVaughn, lovingly known as "Mark" attended Wicomico County Public Schools and proudly graduated with the Wicomico Senior High School Class of 1996.
Faith: Mark began his Christian journey September 1990 when he joined Salisbury Baptist Temple under the leadership of Pastor Oren Perdue. He looked forward to riding the bus with his grandmother Adis Blanding and cousin Bunky. Mark loved attending church, learning about Jesus, singing on the bus and with the Sunday School classes. His favorite songs were Peace Like a River and ABC. Family and friends were often told, "I ride the bus and go to my church, Salisbury Baptist Temple. Every Sunday, the bus picks me up and takes me to my church". Many videos and pictures show how much Mark loved his church family and the love they had for him. He was a faithful member for 33 years.
Family: Mark loved his family, especially his mother and friend whom he affectionately called, "JoAnn". He looked forward to weekly phone calls with Darnell and Debbie. Mark adored and had a special bond with his niece
Ivy. He was a joy to his immediate and
church families.
Peace: Mark will be remembered for holding up the peace sign. Along with the gesture was a radiant smile that said, "what's up, hi, and be kind". He had a greater source of peace, the peace that he sang about every Sunday. The peace of God that empowered him to overcome many challenges, live, love, laugh and spread joy to family, friends, and people he didn't know. He wouldn't hesitate to
say, "I'm going to pray for you".
