Thomas DeWayne Thorn, 73, passed away at his residence on Sunday, September 21, 2025. He was born in Tupelo on August 16, 1952 to the late Ted and Nell Fancher Thorn. DeWayne was a lifelong resident of Nettleton and was a graduate of Nettleton High School, Class of 1971. He married his best friend, Kathy Rogers on December 17, 1977. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a proud patriot and proud of his time in the service. DeWayne was devoted in his work, mainly working 2 jobs his entire career. The first was Bryan Rogers Auto Parts in Shannon, the second was with Riley Construction, which later became Magnum Metals, from which he retired. He enjoyed watching football games, working word puzzles and reading. DeWayne also enjoyed his property and loved to be outdoors cutting grass or working on whatever needed fixing. He was fiercely loyal to his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Nettleton First Baptist Church.

DeWayne is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Kathy Rogers Thorn; daughter, Lori Sullivan (Mitch), Nettleton; son, Jacob Thorn, Nettleton; sisters, Missaha Nichols (Tony), Arkansas, Trina Caywood, Indiana and Trava Parmer (James Roy), Pontotoc; brother, Mike Thorn (Charlotte), Tupelo; grandchildren, Travis Cole Sullivan, Macy Kathryn Sullivan and Walker Holt Sullivan; a host of nieces and nephews.

DeWayne is preceded in death by his father, Ted Thorn; mother, Nell Thorn and step mother, Rosie Thorn.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Tony Nichols officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael Hester, Roger Hester, Brian Sullivan, Jon Sullivan, Daniel Parmer and Luke Parmer.

Visitation will be prior to the service on Wednesday from 1 PM until 2:45 PM.
