Mr. Dewey W. Carter, Jr., 83, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Oakland Church of God Cemetery with Rev. Randy Comer officiating. The family will greet friends at Way-Watson Funeral Home in Buena Vista, GA, prior to the service from 11:30AM until 12:30PM. There will be a funeral procession from the funeral home to the graveside service at 12:30PM.
Mr. Carter was born in Columbus, GA, on March 27, 1942, to Dewey W. Carter, Sr. and Leona Barrett Carter. He enjoyed traveling all over the United States and visiting many of the national parks. Mr. Carter loved old western tv shows and movies, as well as fishing, hunting, Old Gospel and Southern Country Music, and Nascar. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Robinson Carter, a son, Rory Carter, two daughters, Karen Cook and Wendy Carter, and a sister, Bonnie Chapman.
He is survived by his close friend and companion, Sue Barrett; his daughter and son-in-law, Gay Lasseter and her husband, Freddie; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Sonny Robinson and Juanita and Randy Comer; son-in-law Brian Pickell; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
