James Thomas Carter, Sr., 66, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025. He was born on February 20, 1959 in Forsyth County to the late Arthur Edward Carter and Lillian Margaret Vawter Carter. James enjoyed cars and collecting racing material. He had a heart of gold and was always there when you needed help.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sister, Gladys Noah; a brother, Arthur Edward Carter, Jr.; stepson, Roger Martin; and step grandson, Wesley Martin. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Carter; son, James Carter, Jr.; grandchildren, Carly Carter and Micah Carter; stepchild, Virgil Martin; step grandchildren, Angel Martin, Brite Martin, and Zane Martin; siblings, Wanda Grindstaff, Marie Robertson, and Ronald Carter.

A memorial service for James will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Old Richmond Evangelical Methodist Church. The address is 4450 Tobaccoville Rd. Tobaccoville, NC 27050. A meal will be served following the service.
