Dewey Davis Obituary

Dewey Francis "Francie" Davis, age 65, of Bledsoe, Texas, died Sunday August 24, 2025 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born August 26, 1959 in Morton TX to Wayne and LaVon Davis. He married Leesa Davis (Bilbrey) in Bledsoe TX July 7, 1979.

Francie proudly lived and worked his entire life in Cochran County, TX. Francie grew up farming with his dad and siblings in Cochran County. He took Leesa on their first date in 1975 after Leesa's 8th Grade graduation. They dated from that moment, later married, being together for 50 years. They had their four boys, which were Francie's pride and joy, until the boys married and Francie finally got daughters, and even better, grandchildren. Francie, started working in the oilfield after getting married. He owned a backhoe service for several decades and, by his own assessment, was the best operator in the country. Later in life, Francie again fell in love with the beauty of the Texas panhandle running cattle along the Texas/New Mexico state line. Francie was a member of the Bledsoe Baptist Church his entire life. As a child, Francie was born again into Jesus' Church. Francie celebrated the redeeming blood of Christ, never denying the price He paid to cover our sins. Francie loved his boys. He loved traveling around the country supporting his boys in all their events and activities. The best bonus Francie got from supporting his boys was meeting their friends and getting to fold them into his family. There are countless young men and women across this country who all got to call Francie, dad.

Francie is survived by his wife of 46 years Leesa Davis (Bledsoe, TX), Son Jason Davis and his wife Carissa, Jason's son Grayson, His Daughters Greenlee, Gemma, Gradee and daughter-in-law Laney (Panhandle, TX). Son Joshua Davis and his wife Shaina and daughter Ana Rose (Mabelton, GA). Son Jacob Davis and His wife Lauri, Jacob's son Rowyn and daughters Qwynnen, Wynnslo, and Ellagwyn (Winona, TX). Son Jared Davis and his Wife Kat and their daughter Rosalee and new daughter arriving soon (Lake Tomahawk, WI), Mother LaVon Davis (Levelland, TX), Brother Terry Davis and wife Sherri (Mustang, OK), Sisters Henri Joplin and partner Sammy Means (Lubbock, TX), Glorietta Levens and husband Jackie (Levelland, TX). Francie is also survived by his 14 nieces and nephews as well as countless adopted children he was a dad to throughout his life.

Francie is preceded in death by his Father Oris Wayne Davis, Brother Jerry Wayne Davis and Niece Stephanie Griffiths, Father-in-Law Filmore Bilbrey and Mother-in-Law Barbara Bilbrey. As well as his grandparents and great-grandparents who all helped shape him into the man he became.

The family suggests memorials be sent to Bledsoe Baptist Church, Po Box 76, Bledsoe, Tx 79314.
