Lee "Baba" Stephens, age 87, of Morton, Texas, died Sunday, August 17, 2025 in Plainview, Texas. He was born April 22, 1938 in Jones County, Texas to Charles Lee and Amy (Littlefield) Stephens. He married Carolyn Tarrance were married in Santa Anna, Texas in 1959. They adopted Shani in 1965 and Shay was born in 1967. After their divorce in 1987, he married Ann Jones in Lubbock, Texas in 1988. Ann passed away on May 23, 2016. He then married Twila Bolinger.
Lee served in the U.S. Marine Reserve for six years. He then farmed until his retirement in 2004. Lee loved to team rope, and he won many awards doing what he loved. He was also a member of the Morton Roping Club. Lee enjoyed country dancing, and ultimately, that was how he met Twila. He enjoyed watching the rodeo channel as well. Lee was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan, win or lose. He loved his family, especially his grands and great-grands. Lee was a member of the Morton Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ann; his parents; and two sisters, Betty Polk and Pat Feagan.
Lee is survived by wife, Twila; his son, Patrick "Shay" Stephens of Abilene, Texas; his four daughters, Shani Lyn Hartman and her husband, Steve of Morton, Texas; Kelle Sides of Lubbock, Texas; Shelle Williams of Memphis, Tennessee and Denise Smith and her husband, Rodney of Lockney, Texas; his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Scott Feagan, whom he treated as a son; and his ex-wife, Carolyn. The family wishes to thank Interim Hospice and Patricia Jackson for their kindness and support.
