Dewey Stanley McLeod, Jr., age 78, of Hazlehurst, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at Jeff Davis Hospital.
Mr. McLeod was born August 12, 1946 in Cumberland County, North Carolina to the late Dewey Stanley McLeod, Sr. and the late Inez Virginia Taylor McLeod. He attended Southside Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served two tours in the Vietnam War, and was the recipient of four Purple Hearts. Mr. McLeod was employed with CSX Railroad for thirty years and Pope Construction in Blackshear for 15 years. He was the owner of McLeod Construction in Jacksonville, Florida. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheryl Hodges; brother, Steven Presser; a grandson, Jarad McNorrill and a great grandchild, Deagan Pendergrass.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis McLeod of Hazlehurst; children, Tina (Bob) Watts and, Patti (Ronnie) Crutchfield both Florida, Billie Jo (Ben) McNorrill of Fitzgerald, and Patrick McLeod of Hazlehurst; Fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Dr. Ben Glosson officiating.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Swain Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Jeff Davis Veterans Association P.O. Box 263, Hazlehurst, GA 31539.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
