Mr. Dewey Lee Reed, Jr., 97, of Mableton, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. He was born at home in Sandy Springs, Georgia to the late Nellie Jean Bevis Reed and Dewey Lee Reed, Sr.
Mr. Reed was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church of Lithia Springs, where he actively volunteered in a number of capacities. He was a grocery clerk and manager for most of his working career. His first "real" job was as a quality control assistant at the Bell Bomber plant in Marietta (now Lockheed-Martin) during World War II.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters; Jewel Watkins, Sarah McGaughey and Annabelle Hensley and grandson; Matthew Reed.
He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Mrs. Betty Laverne Parker Reed; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn (Guy) Monroe; Sons and daughters-in-law, Steven (Linda) Reed and Keith (Tammy) Reed; as well as 12 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 17, 2025 from 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Douglas Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 17, 2025 at 2:00 PM with interment to follow at Victory Baptist Church in Douglasville, Georgia.
