Dewey Sutton, 86, of Whittier passed away on Monday March 24, 2025, at his residence. A native of Jackson County, he resided in the Seattle, Washington area where he was employed for 26 years at Boeing. After his retirement from Boeing, he returned to Jackson County and worked for 10 years with the Town of Sylva.
Following high school, Dewey joined the United States Army and served from 1956 to March 16, 1960. He was deployed to Germany and received an honorable discharge following an accident.
Dewey is survived by his wife of 28 years, Jean, who was by his side until the time of his passing. He is also survived by two sons, Kenny (Heidi), David (Deanna); one daughter, Kim Hollis (Brett), all residing in the state of Washington. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Robert (Suzanne) of Richmond Virginia and Mike (Teresa) of Sylva; and one sister, Mary Parris of Franklin North Carolina. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews and very special friend, Bonnie Sutton.
Dewy is preceded in death by his parents, Avery and Esther Sutton; two brothers Larry of Franklin North Carolina and Harry of Aberdeen Washington.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, March 28, 2025, in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Rev. Gary Moore officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 till 1:00 prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to help with expenses.
