Diana Kay Gillean, a true woman of God, died on Friday, April 18, 2025 after a short battle with cancer. Diana, 73, of Vermontville, was born June 23, 1951 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Thomas Thurman and Kathleen (Poling) and Joel Rogers I. On October 10, 1970, Diana married Gary M. Gillean and together they created many cherished memories until his passing on November 29, 2024. She worked for 33 years as a canteen lady for a local vending machine company out of Lansing. Diana was also known for her cake decorating skills. She spent nearly fifty years decorating wedding, birthday, and most recently a first communion cake. Many will remember Diana for being God-fearing, very strong, always encouraging, and always giving good advice and being there for you when you are in need.
Diana devoted her life to the Lord. She went on several mission trips around the country, taught Sunday school for numerous years, sang in the church choir, and led the women's ministries program at Nashville Assembly of God. Her family meant the world to her. Her children were her pride and joy, and then when her grandchildren started being born her heart expanded even more. Diana wanted to be remembered by everyone for living her life like there was no end in sight.
Diana is survived by her children, Gary (Virginia) Gillean, Melissa Flynn, Kelly (Mike) Williams, and Shane (Samantha) Gillean; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; siblings, Joel Rogers II, Sandy Gladney, Jimmy Rogers, and Bonnie Vallance; and her mother-in-law, Maxine Lowing. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Gary; son-in-law, Sam Flynn; sister, Marilyn Garrison; niece, Sheri Phillips; and her parents.
