DIANA CAROL STEELEDiana C. Steele, 74, of Deford, died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 25, 2024 in Covenant Medical Center Harrison Campus, Saginaw. She was born May 27, 1949 to Paul and Vivian (Wakefield) Simms. She married Dennis Morgan Steele on July 19, 1980 in Saginaw. He died November 5, 2021.

Diane received her GED but was determined to receive her high school diploma, so she attended night classes and proudly graduated in 1982.  She worked at Saginaw Steering Gear where she met Dennis.  Diana attended Hixson’s School of Floral Design.  She started her own business making balloon weights for floral shops.  Diana also worked as a seasonal textbook fee collector for the National Park Service.  She loved the thrill of drag racing with her own car and the excitement of riding rollercoasters.  Diana was talented at crocheting blankets and she graciously gave them as gifts for graduation and for newborn babies.  Diana enjoyed painting, traveling, and going to thrift shops.  She made many friends at Bingo which she played several times a week.

Diane is survived by her children, ”the super seven”:  Tammy (Ken) Distelrath of Bay City, Bryan (Amy) Huizar of Vassar, Angela Huizar of Traverse City, Michael (Chelsea) Huizar of Traverse City, Pamala (Tom Rye) Steele of Bay City, Justin (Stacey) Huizar of Kalamazoo, Dennis (Angie) Steele, Jr. of Deford; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings:  Victor Overaitis, Darleen Card, Duane Overaitis, David Overaitis; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James (Marguerite) Caswell; brother-in-law, Arthur (Susan) Steele, sister-in-law, Alice Spencer; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis.
