Diane Rose Barry, 81, died on Monday, September 23, 2024 at Winchester hospital from complications due to pneumonia and COVID. Her wife of 43 years, Celia Wcislo, and their son, Miguel Wcislo Barry, spent the last month by her side.
Diane grew up in Wethersfield, Connecticut. She was the daughter of John Barry, and Jane Farquhar Barry. She was a of graduate of Lasalle College and Harvard University. Her professional career included 40-plus years as an administrative manager for the Emergency Department at Boston City Hospital and Boston Medical Center
Diane is remembered as a woman committed to social justice and was the glue that held her family together. She loved her time on the Cape with her family. And she loved her dog Midnight throughout her illness. Diane began attending First Parish UU, Arlington after adopting her son Miguel, so he might grow up in a loving community. Diane was a member of First Parish for thirty years, serving as volunteer Treasurer for more than ten years as well as on the Racial Justice Coordinating Committee.
The family is grateful for the support of friends and family. Please donate to Arlington Eats if you wish to (www.arlingtoneats.org).
A memorial service at First Parish is set for Monday, October 28th at 1:00 PM at First Parish Unitarian Universalist, Arlington (630 Massachusetts Ave., Arlington).
