Diane Mayes Byrd, age 76, of Hattiesburg, MS passed away on January 22, 2026, at 1:19 p.m.

Born April 17, 1949, in Sanford, Mississippi, Diane lived a life rooted in love, service, and devotion to family. She attended Earl Travillion High School, studied at Alcorn State University, and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from William Carey College, with an emphasis in Gerontology.

Diane dedicated her career to caring for others, serving as an Activities Director at Bedford Care Center, where she was deeply respected and appreciated for her compassion and creativity.

In 1970, she married her beloved husband, Clifford Byrd, and together they shared 55 years of marriage.

She is survived by her loving husband, Clifford Byrd; her daughter, Monika (Gregory) McGhee; grandchildren Kristen (Willie) Buchanan and Deryk Dahmer, Jr.; great-grandchildren Landon Buchanan and Lillian Buchanan; and many other cherished relatives and friends.

Diane will be remembered for her grace, warmth, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
