Diane Kay Callaghan (Rasdorf)
April 18, 1955 - September 4, 2025
Diane Kay Callaghan, age 70, passed away peacefully at her home in Bangor Township on September 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 18, 1955, to the late Erven and Alma (Abler) Rasdorf. Diane was a woman of faith, radiant kindness, and quiet strength. A devoted Catholic and longtime member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish.
Diane's greatest joy was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She and Bill were blessed with 45 years of marriage, which they celebrated on August 29th. Their marriage was filled with love, travel, prayer, and a shared sense of purpose. Her family was the center of her world. She was endlessly proud of her grandchildren, who brought her more happiness than anything else.
Diane lived as an encouragement to those around her by setting an example of gratitude, activity, and positivity. She believed in living fully and finding light in each day, and her family will carry that light forward. Becoming a nurse (43 years dedicated to McLaren Bay) and helping others was a childhood dream she pursued. She lived her life to serve others, volunteering around the community and her heart was filled when she could reach out and help others who were in need and less fortunate than her.
Her happiest days were those spent traveling with her husband, Bill, her best friend and greatest companion. Together they collected memories near and far, traveling all over the United States, as well as many destinations around the world. She also cherished life's simple and meaningful pleasures: daily walks, playing cards, camping, biking, playing pickleball, practicing yoga, and spending time with her close circle of friends. She kept a tidy and welcoming home-a quiet reflection of the care she gave so freely to others.
In her own words:
"I would like to be remembered as a genuinely kind and caring person. By giving to others, I have been given so much in return. I have been so blessed with a wonderful life and am eternally grateful."
Diane is survived by her devoted husband, William Callaghan; her beloved children: Kristen (Kevin) Rice, Shannon (Russ) Rose, and Gregory (Courtney) Callaghan; her cherished grandchildren: Harper Morris and Teaghan Rice, Cameron and Mason Rose, Quinn and Coen Callaghan; her brother, Gary (Norma) Rasdorf. As well as 13 brother- and sister-in-laws; 20 nieces and nephews, and dear friends-too many to name, but each one dearly held. She was preceded in death by her parents, Erven and Alma (Abler) Rasdorf, her in-laws, Thomas and JoAnn Callaghan, and her sister-in-laws, Betty and Barbara Callaghan.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, September 10, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Squires Funeral Home, with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. On Thursday, September 11, friends may gather at St. Catherine of Siena Parish from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Bessert. Private entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin.
