Diane Carpenter

Diane Varner Carpenter, age 73, passed away unexpectedly at her home on December 10, 2025. Diane was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Rick Carpenter who she selflessly cared for as his health declined; as well as her parents, Paul and Pauline Varner. She is survived by her children Kimberly Arnold (Byrd), Tara Sandidge (Greg), and Andrew Carpenter (Mandy); her cherished grandchildren Megan Smith (Morgan), Keira Carpenter, Reagan Sandidge, Cooper Sandidge, Joshua Carpenter, and Drew Carpenter; and her great-granddaughter, Ridley Smith, who brought her endless joy. She is also survived by her sister, Helen Winford; in-laws, Lloyd McAfee, Robbie Carpenter (Wanda), Jerry Carpenter, Sheila Shipley; several nieces, nephews and extended family. Diane spent many years working as a bookkeeper, where her attention to detail and strong work ethic were deeply appreciated. She was a member of Sale Creek Church of God. She found joy in shopping on Amazon and QVC, and she was especially known for her love of animal prints, a signature style that reflected her bold personality.

Those who knew Diane will remember her laughter, her kindness, and the way she made every person feel valued and at home. She had a special gift for creating moments her family will remember for a lifetime. Diane enjoyed get-togethers with her cousins. She also cherished her longtime friend, Carolyn Parker. Though her passing was sudden, the love Diane poured into her family and friends will continue to surround them. Her spirit, her warmth, and her unwavering devotion will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Terry Bolton officiating. Burial will follow at Varner Cemetery.
