Diane Shirley Cusic

HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Diane S. Cusic, 81, an area resident since 1971, died at home on March 4, 2025.
Born on December 3, 1943 in Wareham, MA, Diane was the daughter of the late Carl and Florence (Cahoon) Sawyer. As a child, she played basketball, danced (tap and ballet), and was a cheerleader.
On September 17, 1966 at St. Joseph Chapel in Woods Hole, MA, she married Joseph J. Cusic who predeceased her in 2016.
Diane earned her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1965 from Lesley College where she was a member of the Glee Club, the Student Christian Association, and Lord Newark Society. She was also the Senior Class Vice President and Chairperson of the MayDay Program.
Diane retired in 2015 from Abilities First NY after over 20 years of service. During her time there, she was the recipient of several commendations including the Employee Recognition Award and Peer Nomination for going above and beyond.
She enjoyed horseback riding during her youth and more recently, gardening. Diane loved reading and gifting books. More than anything, she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and was their biggest fan for various swimming, football, lacrosse and baseball events.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Stephen and Allison Cusic of Hopewell Junction, NY and Joscelin and James Grizzetti of Morristown, NJ; and her grandchildren, Camryn Grizzetti, James Joseph Grizzetti, Holden Cusic, and Logan Cusic.
Visitation will be held at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction on Saturday, March 15th from 2 - 4 pm with a funeral service at 4pm.
