Diane Flatness, of Austin, formerly of Albert Lea, peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at the Edenbrook Nursing Center in Rochester, MN.
Born on August 22, 1959, in Albert Lea, she was the daughter of the late Morris and Louise (Becker) Flatness. Diane took immense pride in her journey, starting with her graduation from Alden High School in 1977. She dedicated her working years to various organizations, including Cedar Valley Services and the Clothing Care Center, where her commitment and empathy made a profound impact on her colleagues and the community she served.
Beyond her professional life, Diane found joy in the simple pleasures that brought her solace and laughter. Playing cards and immersing herself in the soothing melodies of country and Rock N Roll music were amongst her treasured pastimes. Her love for sports was evident through her unwavering support for the Minnesota Vikings and the Twins. Diane also had a deep affinity for animals, particularly dogs and cats, and she had a special talent for nurturing them with kindness and warmth.
But perhaps one of the most special memories Diane leaves behind is of her dancing, an activity that brought her immense joy and allowed her to connect with loved ones on a deeper level. She often twirled around the dance floor with her niece and sister, Marlene, creating heartfelt and unforgettable moments.
Left to cherish Diane’s memory include her siblings, Marlin Flatness, Nancy (Kenneth) Gordon, Susan Gulbertson, and Marlene (Jerald) Johnson; a sister-in-law, Debra Flatness; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Morris and Louise, Diane was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Amy Marie, a brother, Larry Flatness; a twin brother, Daniel Flatness, and his wife, Cindy; paternal grandparents, Palmer and Hattie (Hanson) Flatness; and maternal grandparents, Frank and Emma (Bauers) Becker.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, December 15, 2023, at Bonnerup Funeral & Cremation Services, with a visitation beginning at 10:00AM. Interment will be held in Alden Cemetery.
