Beverly Jean Flatness, age 65, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Loyola University Medical Center.
Beverly was born July 15, 1960 in Ottawa to John James Lewis, Sr. and Cora (Ham) Lewis. She is survived by her children Ronald (Melissa) Baudino of Marseilles, Michael (Amanda) Baudino of Arizona and Madison Flatness of LaSalle; and grandchildren Carley and Carter Baudino and Makenzie Peterson. She also leaves brothers, John "Buddy" Lewis, Jr. of Streator and Jim Perdun of Silver Springs, Florida; a sister Candy (Mark) Christmann of Streator; her daughter-in-law Connie Daugherty of Ottawa and her dear friend Debra Hartman of Ottawa. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents.
Beverly attended the Brush Arbor Meeting Cowboy Church at Long Point. She had been employed as an early childhood teacher.
Beverly's greatest joy in life was her family. She was deeply proud of her children and grandchildren, and nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with them. Whether enjoying quiet afternoons or celebrating at lively family gatherings, she cherished every moment. Watching her loved ones grow into kind, strong individuals filled her heart with immense pride and gratitude.
A lover of both creativity and the outdoors, she found peace and joy in crafting, fishing, and camping. Beverly embraced life's simple pleasures with warmth and enthusiasm, whether she was making something beautiful with her hands or enjoying the quiet calm of nature. She also loved traveling with those closest to her, creating lasting memories on road trips and getaways filled with laughter and adventure. These shared experiences were treasures she held close to her heart.
Among those dearest to Bev was her friend Debra, whom she lovingly called her "bonus daughter." Bev was deeply thankful for Debra's constant support-from helping around the house and sharing heartfelt conversations to caring for Bev's beloved cat, Miley. Their friendship was a true blessing, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering care.
Beverly's warmth, humor, and unwavering support left a lasting impression on everyone she met. The memories she created and the love she gave will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday September 13th from 1 to 5 PM at Brush Arbor Meeting Cowboy Church, 111 3rd Street, Long Point, Illinois, with Preacher Bill Kehoe officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to A Servant's Heart, 610 West Jefferson Street, Ottawa, IL 61350.
