Diane Grant was born on April 15,1952 at the Newark City Hospital/Martland Building in Newark, NJ. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Isabelle Grant Jones and Elijah Jones; brothers, Robert, Tyrone, William and Lawrence Grant, and Samuel Nash III; her Aunt Gladys White; and son-in-law, Martin Ayala II. Diane was called home to rest on Friday, March 24, 2023.
Diane attended Newark Public Schools, Wilfred Academy Beauty School and Essex County College. She most enjoyed working as a teacher's aide in Newark Public Schools for several years.
Diane was a strong spirited, intelligent, caring and compassionate woman who was generous in heart and mind. She touched everyone who was fortunate enough to cross her path. Her sense of humor and laugh were contagious and she never missed an opportunity to put a smile on your face.
Diane leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Michelle Grant-Ayala, Ameenah Grant, Sheron White, Elisa Vines and Tameka Coach; son, Corey Grant; sister Lillian (Mutiya) Williams (Beaufort SC); brother, Ronald Grant (Marie Grant); sister-in-law, Phillis Grant; grandchildren, Elijah, Fakir (Austin, TX) and Ma'Deja Grant, La'Quashia Martin, Martin III and Markese Ayala, Nicole, Shaheed, Kiara and Juwan Broner; 17 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
