Diane Gray Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McClam Funeral Home - New Haven on Jan. 4, 2026.
Diane Louise Gray, age 60, of New Haven, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, surrounded by the love of her children.

Diane was born to James Gray and Louise Gray on May 2, 1965, and was raised in the Ashmun Street projects, where she was known and loved by many. She attended Wilbur Cross High School, where she developed a love for fabric designing. As an adult, Diane worked as a school bus driver for the City of New Haven, serving her community with care and dedication.

Diane was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt whose love for her family was unwavering. She enjoyed cooking, spending quality time with her loved ones, and listening to music. Her all-time favorite song was "A Rose Is Still a Rose" by Aretha Franklin-a song that perfectly reflected her spirit. Diane had a smile that would light up a room, complete with a dimple, and she remained positive through every trial and tribulation.

She is survived by her children James Mitchell, Trevor Gray, Tyshell Mitchell, Iesha Mitchell, and Lamar Mitchell; her siblings Bernadette Perry, Gloria Gray, Kevin Gray, and Taveras Gray; 14 grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Diane was predeceased by her sisters Jaqueline Gray and Crystal Gray, and her parents James Gray and Louise Gray.

While we mourn the loss of Diane, we ask that all who knew and loved her remember to hold on to the good times. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
