Diane Hanson, age 57 years, died Thursday, August 17, 2023 at her home in Plymouth. She was the loving companion of 32 years to James McNeill, and the beloved mother of Susan Holly McNeill and her fiancé Connor Allard of Plymouth. Born on March 6, 1966 in Plymouth to John and Lois (Kierstead) Hanson, she had a gift working with terminally ill people as well as the elderly. Even with the stack of cards she was handed she always made the best of whatever situation she found herself in. Diane had a keen sense of humor and fought her numerous illnesses for many years with a smile on her face while always lending a hand to help others. She was amazing with animals often being referred to as Dr.Doolittle and loved working with her hands whether it be making holiday wreaths with sea lavender or taking apart a vacuum to fix it. She loved being outside gardening or floating in the pool which she coined as her way of meditating. She loved music and cooking. Diane had a big heart and was loved by her family.
Besides James and Susan, Diane was the sister of the late Carol Machado and sister in law to Daniel Machado. She leaves her sisters Lynn Merrick of Middleboro and Karen Haimaidi and her husband Jimmy of Florida, many nieces & nephews including her nephew John-Hanson Machado and niece Ashley Brainard and her husband John Brainard, and her great niece Caroline Brainard.

Jimmy and Susan, I am so sorry for your loss. Diane always had a smile and was always caring for others. Diane was strong, had the greatest laugh, generous and kind. Family was so important to her and always talked about the both of you. She was a bright light and will be missed.
