Terence (Terry) Joseph McArdle, age 81, of Plymouth, died peacefully on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at his home surrounded by his beloved family. He was the devoted husband of Laurel (Kreston) McArdle and the son of the late Terence and Helen (Clarke) McArdle.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, on April 27, 1944, Terry was a graduate of Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn and Niagara University at Niagara Falls, New York, class of 1966.

Terry dedicated his career to serving his country, serving as a Special Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), where he retired as the Special Agent in Charge of the Boston Field Division. He was also a United States Army veteran, and he proudly served for many years on the Massachusetts Parole Board.

He and his wife Laurel lived in Beverly for over thirty years, where they lovingly raised their family. In recent years, they moved to Plymouth to be closer to their grandchildren. Terry was a faithful communicant of St. Bonaventure's Church in Manomet and an active member of the Knights of Columbus.

Terry had a passion for the outdoors, particularly fishing and lobstering, and he passed on both his love of the sea and sense of service to his daughters. A skilled artisan, he was known for building beautiful, custom fishing rods. He was a phenomenal cook who delighted in cooking for his friends and family. Those who knew him later in his life might fondly remember finding him on a bench near the ocean in Plymouth, reading his newspaper with a cup of coffee and, always, a close eye on the water. Above all, he was a thoughtful and generous man who cherished time spent with his family.

Besides his devoted wife Laurel, Terry is survived by his two daughters, Katherine McArdle and Kellie Bailey, their husbands Chad Demarest and Michael Bailey, and his cherished grandchildren Molly McArdle, Marianne Bailey, Katherine Bailey and Hunter McArdle.

So sorry to hear of Terry's passing. I have many fond memories of his making breakfast for us when we came to visit. I also remember him getting 3 live lobsters for me. The were behind me in a pail, live on my drive home. I dreaded the thought of live lobsters and in the car. But all ended well. I will keep you, Laurie and the family in my prayers.
