Mrs. Diane Catherine Jervey departed this life surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 21, 2022. She was affectionately known to her family and friends as Di and Boogey Woogey. She was born on Friday, March 29, 1946, to the late Benjamin Melvin Stanford and Catherine Marie Wright in Wilmington, Delaware.
In her early years of life, she was raised by her aunt Mary K. Lee, affectionally known as mom. At 10 years old Diane lost her mother; however, she remained close to all of her siblings. Diane attended both private and public schools beginning with St. Joesph s Roman Catholic Church and Bancroft School in Wilmington, Delaware. As a student, she received several recognitions for her involvement in school organizations.
In 1970, she was introduced to Daniel Jervey by a mutual friend. During their courtship, they developed a close bond along with their children, William, Tonjua, Toni, Tawanna, Tamerya, Trenna, and Tricia. As a blended family, they were joined in union before God in 1971. Sometime later, they had their first son, Daniel Jervey II. During their early years of marriage, they spent time traveling across the country. In 1976, their second son, Iban Jackson-Jervey was born.
Diane continued her education at night school later earning her diploma at James H. Groves Adult Education Center.
Raised Catholic, Diane attended Christ Our King Catholic Church in Wilmington, Delaware until she became ill. She committed many years to caring for the elderly as a certified nursing assistant at Parkview Nursing Home. She was caring and loving to those in need. She served people with such love, compassion, and understanding. She also lent her time to the community through the Pack 400 of Wilmington Cub Scouts Program.
She was a woman of many talents. Her fried chicken, deviled eggs, and sweet potatoes were family favorite dishes. She was active, and anyone could catch her riding her bike across New Castle County.
Her upbeat nature was unmatched and she always made others feel seen and heard. Diane was known for many things to many people but above all, she was understanding, unselfish to a fault, a loving mother, a good cook, and a great listener.
Diane was proceeded in death by her daughter Tonjua Jackson, and siblings Charles Jackson, Ralph Jackson, Lester Jackson, Keith Stanford, and Velma Horsey. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Daniel Jervey, her loving children, William Jackson, Toni Jackson, Tawanna Brown (Leroy), Tamerya Woods (Alvin), Trenna Lee (Russell), Tricia Jackson, Daniel Jervey II (Wanda), Omar Harris (Shantia), Iban Jackson- Jervey and her siblings Carol Davis, Melva Jackson, Melvin Stanford, Daveen Wright, Dorothea Stanford, her adopted son, Marvell Watts, and devoted friend, JoAnn Eatmon. She has a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, 23 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren who will carry on her legacy.

Aunt Diane was one of the first people to open her arms to us when we relocated to Delaware. Her sharp personality and stories kept us always wanting to hear more. She gave us good advice through her stories(that were hilarious). I felt as if she was my family through spirit alone. She will be greatly missed and her legacy will live on through her beautiful family.
