Diane Kahnt, 75, of Kalkaska, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2025 at Munson Hospital after an unexpected illness. She was born May 26, 1950 in Ferndale, Michigan to the late Rosemary and James Hosteller. Diane was the oldest, followed by Karen (Gravelle), Patricia (Madurski) and Robert James (d). She was married to Dennis Kahnt on October 19, 1968. They enjoyed 57 years together raising children and enjoying their lake time and vacationing in Florida. Diane wore many hats – daughter, sister, cousin, friend, wife mother and Mimi. Those who knew her were welcomed with a quick smile and heartfelt laugh. Diane was a devoted friend who made an impact on many lives. She was blessed with two lifelong friends, Celeste and Pat, who will miss her greatly. Diane enjoyed her time working in the Kalkaska public schools. First in the elementary school and later in the high school. She enjoyed the students she interacted with and loved seeing them after her retirement to catch up on their lives. Diane was a devoted Christian and was a member of the Northern Decolores Ministry. She could often be found crafting and cross-stitching. She was a frequent visitor to the library as she was an avid reader. Diane loved all things sun, sand, rocks and beach. She "survived" winters in order to enjoy her trips to Lake Michigan and her deck overlooking the lake. Diane loved her husband Dennis with her whole heart, and their marriage was an inspiration to many. She adored her children, Michelle and Dale, and always challenged them to be the best version of themselves. Diane was a Mimi to Hannah, Emma and Ian. It was guaranteed that the grandchildren would be spoiled, even when they were in college, grown and married. Her biggest impact can be seen in her legacy of family, love and traditions. Diane is survived by her husband – Dennis, daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Scott Reynolds, grandchildren - Hannah (Clay) Rivera, Emma Reynolds and Ian Reynolds. Diane also leaves behind her sisters - Karen (Dave) Gravelle and Patricia (Bill) Madursski. Diane was preceded in death by her son Dale who we are certain was excited to see his mom. A private service was held with a small group of family and friends at her home on the lake. All in attendance were happy to enjoy the sun, water, food and company that Diane was famous for providing at each social event. We are asking in lieu of flowers, please donate to the St. Jude's Foundation.
