Diane was so many things to so many people! She was a daughter, a wife, a mother, a cousin, a friend, an aunt, but her greatest joy was being a grandmother and great grandmother to her eight grandchildren Jason, Jasmine, Hannah, Brandon, Andrew, Caleb, Lincoln, Marina and her beloved great granddaughter Prudence.
Born to Neil and Christine Robbins, Diane was raised in Appleton. Following high school graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Greg on October 15th, 1971. After establishing their home in Appleton, they welcomed what Ryan affectionately refers to as her first and favorite of two children in 1977, followed by the runner-up in 1978. Greg and Diane were committed to the safe, healthy, wholesome and loving life they created for themselves and their children up until the moment death separated them. Diane spoke fondly of her year's waitressing at Elmer's restaurant in Union before settling into her career working in support services for Department of Child and Family Services.
In 2006 after being diagnosed with Leukemia, Diane retired to make her health and her family her priority. She settled beautifully into the role of caring for Neil and Christine up until the time of their passing weeks apart in 2021. At which time, the leukemia that had been laying dormant became more aggressive and Diane entered a battle to save her own life. She conquered her treatment and thanks to an anonymous bone marrow donor, Diane was able to be present for the birth of her great granddaughter and the wedding of one of her grandchildren.
Survived by her husband of nearly 53 years Greg, son and daughter in law Ryan and Amy Moody of Waldoboro, daughter and son in law Marci and Shane Blakely of Appleton, grandchildren and bonus grandchildren: Jason, Carmen & great granddaughter Prudence of Vinalhaven, Jasmine of Augusta, Hannah & Ruby of Vinalhaven, Brandon of Norfolk, VA, Andrew & Skyler of Vinalhaven, Caleb of Waldoboro, Lincoln of Enoch Utah & Marina of Mountain Green Utah. Bonus children that Diane cherished over the years Jason Taylor, Chris Hart, Joseph Theriault. Bonus granddaughter Meg Mosier.
Her grandchildren have described her best, as Lincoln wrote: My grandma smelled of oranges in the way that all grandmas smell vaguely of something, whether it be paint, cinnamon or old furniture you find in a thrift store, my grandma smelled like oranges. Or the way Jasmine described her as homemade macaroni and cheese with ritz crackers on top. She was games of phase ten and cherry chapstick. She was grit, determination, love and light with just the right amount of wit and sass for her tiny stature. She was mini but mighty to those who knew and loved her most! The void she leaves behind is immeasurable!
Though Diane did not wish for a funeral service, her family invites those who loved and knew her to join us on Saturday, October 19th, 2024, from 12-3 at the Union Masonic Lodge for a potluck celebration of life. Please bring a dish and your favorite memories to share.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Services. To share a condolence or memory with the Moody family, visit Diane's Book of Memories at www.hallfuneralhomes.com.
