Obituary for Diane Wade Moss
Nancy Diane Wade Moss passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024, after enduring several weeks of hospice care within her home in Clinton, UT. Diane maintained her compassion, grace, kindness, and godliness during her last days. She shared her time with her children, grandchildren and friends, expressing love, laughter, and a great appreciation for her wonderful life. We love Mom with all of our hearts and we're so proud of her courage and dignity until her passing.
Diane was born on August 16, 1940, in Ontario CA, to parents Carrell Tasso and Velma Maye Wade. She was the third child born after her sister, Doris Maye, who died in infancy, and her brother Roger. While a teenager, Diane enjoyed the Southern California lifestyle, having fun in the sun, surf, and beach. She attended Chafee High School, studying business. It was in high school where she met a star baseball player through a mutual friend, Daryl Samuel Moss. Daryl and Diane were married in 1959.
In 1960 and during the next four years, Mom and Dad welcomed four children into their loving family: Robin, Rene, Shelley, and Darin. Mom was a wonderful, loving wife and mother. Today, her children remain amazed how she was able to care for four children under the age of four years. She has always been amazingly dedicated, patient, and giving throughout her entire life. She treasured her relationships with her children and eventual grandchildren. In 1969, Mom and Dad added Cory to our beautiful family. Just prior to this time, our family moved from Ontario to Northern California, eventually settling in the small town of Dublin.
Dad was a policeman with the Martinez City Police Department. In 1973, Daryl and Diane experienced difficult times and were eventually divorced. Though this was heartbreaking for Mom and her five children, our faith and love for each other created a bond that will last for eternity. Mom is a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Along with her children, Mom has recognized the strength and love of her Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. Her personal relationship with God and Jesus has fortified her life and her testimony that she will dwell with them and her loved ones forever.
In her younger years, Mom worked as a personnel assistant and various other positions for fifteen years with Systron Donnor. She then retired and traveled with her son Darin and his family for his job in Saudi Arabia. After eight months, Mom returned to the United States and eventually served a Church mission in the Church office building located in Salt Lake City, UT, from April 1999 to April 2000. Mom loved every minute of her Missionary service. She was called to serve in the Missionary Department, sending out Missionary packets and notifying Mission Presidents of incoming Missionaries. After her Mission, Mom worked as an office manager for a long-term care facility, then retired for a second time to move to Clinton UT to be close to her son Cory and his family.
Mom loved Utah. She wasn't fond of the snow but appreciated Cory and her grandchildren for taking care of her during those blustery, snowy days by shoveling around her home and retrieving her mail. Living in Northern Utah was a great blessing for Mom as she was able to visit with many of her family members who traveled to the "Clinton Hub". She cherished the time spent with her family and so much appreciated being included in many of their activities. During her last days, the family traveled to her Clinton home from all over the US to share their love and final moments with her.
Mom was a remarkable seamstress. She loved to sew and created some of the most beautiful quilts anyone could imagine. She shared so many, that she lost count of how many quilts she had made through the years but estimated it would be well over a hundred. Her other hobbies included gardening, reading and family history work. She performed an amazing amount of Temple, family history and genealogical services to the Church. We are convinced that after her passing, not only was she greeted by her mother, father and loved ones, but also by many individuals for whom she performed their Temple ordinances. Heavenly Father blessed her during her entire life for her devotion to His sacred work.
Mom also loved to drive and visit beautiful locations across the United States. She and her friend Berneice Hodson took many trips together, experiencing quite a few adventurous outings while visiting the Western States. She also traveled to Alaska, New Jersey, Texas, Colorado, California, Arizona and Utah to visit her family and friends.
Mom was our beacon of light. She leaves behind a strong and faithful legacy of children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends, and associates who will miss her dearly. Her conviction, example and endearing love inspired many family members to provide years of dedicated service to our fellow brothers and sisters around the world. Fifteen of Mom's children and grandchildren have served successful Missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints around the world, helping to build God's Kingdom here on earth. Mom's lasting impression came from sharing her wisdom and nurturing her children and their children to love the Lord Jesus Christ and serve others. During her last days, Mom testified of the divinity of Jesus Christ to each of her family members. As she entered paradise, we are certain the Savior embraced her and said: "well done thou good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of the Lord."
Diane is survived by her 5 sons and daughters, 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and 3 more on the way!
In lieu of flowers, Diane has asked for donations to her two favorite charities: St. Jude’s Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/) and Tunnel to Towers (https://t2t.org/).
