Diane L. Nesmith (Madden) passed from this life on Tuesday July 4th, 2023. A Denver native, Diane graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School with the class of 1963, where she made many lifelong friends.
Diane loved being with her family, friends, and her Beta Sigma Phi sisters. She also enjoyed gardening and being outdoors.
She is survived by her son, Kevin (Marilu) and daughter Michelle, stepchildren: Chuck Jr. (Lori), Anita Houston (Kenneth), Wanda, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, sister Patricia (Ben) and brother Steven. She will also be missed by her Beta Sigma Phi sisters, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and longtime friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Charles, stepson Wayne, sister Marilyn, parents Pete and June, and beloved grandparents Emma and Henry.
Diane joined Beta Sigma Phi in 1964 and achieved the Degree of Torch Bearer during her 60 years of active status. She loved to be with her Beta Sisters as a social organization that engages in community service and other social endeavors, until her passing.
Diane married Charles Nesmith in 1966. They resided in the Denver area and northern suburbs where they enjoyed being close to the mountains and family.
Diane treasured her 30-year career with Gates Rubber Company where she started as a receptionist and worked her to way up to Supervisor of Accounts Payable and Receivables. She retired in 2001.
Diane was a Girl Scout as a child and an adult leader for both Boy and Girl Scouts for many years.
She shared her husband's passion for history, especially the American fur trade era. She and Chuck loved to travel the American west and re-enact Fur Trade Era Rendezvous complete with period attire and housing. A longtime member of the South Platte Valley Historical Society she and Chuck were both instrumental in the planning and reconstruction of The Historic Park at Ft. Lupton (an historically accurate re-creation of the original fort built by Lancaster Lupton.) While she helped with many things, she especially treasured the schoolhouse, where a memorial of yellow roses will be planted in her honor.
Celebration of life will be held at 2:10 pm Sunday September 10th, 2023, at:
The Fort
2001 Historic Parkway
