Diane Teece Obituary

Diane Charlotte Teece

1939-2025

Midvale, UTDiane Charlotte Teece, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, in Midvale, Utah, at the age of 86.

Diane was born on December 1, 1939, in Anniston, Alabama, to Arthur Joseph Teece and Luella Charlotte Teece, originally from Waukegan, Illinois. Diane grew up in Salt Lake City and always considered it her home. She attended East High School, graduating in 1957, and was known for her love of music, singing in the East High School a cappella group. She continued her education at the University of Utah, participating in the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. While at the University of Utah she was invited to participate in Army Sponsor Corp. She later moved to Tempe, Arizona to continue her education at Arizona State University.

Diane returned to Utah and married Peter Burton Bjorklund in 1960. They had three children, Jenni, John, and David, and together they moved to Sunnyvale, California in 1966. In 1968, the young family moved to Bangkok Thailand. This experience reflected Diane's openness to the wider world. While in Thailand, her youngest daughter, Sara was born. Diane returned to California in 1971 and she and Peter separated in 1974. While still in California, Diane built a meaningful professional life as a lab technician in the Division of Immunology at Stanford University while living in Cupertino.

In 1980, Diane returned to Salt Lake City to be closer to her parents and her sister, Sandra Krowas. She soon began a highly successful career in real estate with Coldwell Banker, helping hundreds of families find their dream homes. She retired in 1994 to care for her parents.

Never one to slow down for long, Diane discovered race-walking in 1999. As founder and president of the Wasatch Walkers, she competed in countless races, earning hundreds of medals, raising thousands of dollars for charity, and inspiring other walkers well into her eighties. She was also a devoted member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Friendly, outgoing, and deeply kind, Diane loved hiking, camping, and meaningful conversation. She was a wonderful mother, a loyal friend, and a steady, encouraging presence to everyone she met.

Diane is survived by her sister, Sandra Krowas; her children: Jennifer Gates, John Bjorklund, David Bjorklund, and Sara Hartmann; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, with more on the way.

A Memorial will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E 1300 S, Salt Lake City UT, 84108. A Visitation is from 4 – 5pm and a Celebration of Life from 5 – 6 pm.

Although I haven't had contact with Diane for decades, I have fond memories of our years together at East High School and the University of Utah. Diane kindly managed my campaign when I ran for editor of the high school newspaper, and it certainly wasn't her fault that I lost. Our ensuing friendship was one of the highlights of those years. I pledged Pi Beta Phi at the U, largely because she had done so the year before. I remember her as beautiful, stately, and, more important, always gracious and generous.
