Diane L. Tjaden

Diane L. (Praklet)Tjaden, a cherished mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away at 7:10 pm on Monday, November 10, 2025, in Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on February 28, 1954, in Mishawaka, Diane's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and the joy she found in life.
Diane's early years in Mishawaka were filled with the love and guidance of her parents, Phyllis M. (Fox) and Everett Rich, Sr., both of whom preceded her. She grew up alongside her siblings, Linda Clark, Pamela (Richard) Mullin, the late Karen (Ken Oswalt Jr.) Praklet and Everett Rich, Jr., forming bonds that would last a lifetime. The proud mother of Travis (Kathleen) Hundt, Justin Hundt, Marijon (Heather) Hundt, Edward (Samantha) Tjaden, the late Erika Tjaden, the late Erik Tjaden and Cheyenne (Stephen) Price. Her love and legacy continue to live on through her six adoring grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Diane's professional journey was marked by her dedication as a photographer for Sears Portrait Studio, a Bank Teller at Standard Federal and a switchboard operator at Work One for the State of Indiana. Her colleagues remember her as a reliable and friendly presence, always ready to assist with a smile.
Beyond her work, Diane was a woman of many passions. She found solace in her Catholic faith, which was the cornerstone of her existence. Her faith-filled life was evident in her love for watching Church online and participating in the community of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka. As a talented photographer, Diane captured countless memories with her keen eye for beauty. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her twin grandboys, whether it was on trips to the zoo, Rentown, or simply enjoying ice cream dates. Diane's love of baking, painting, gardening, and crocheting were other ways she expressed her affection, often sharing her creations with family and friends.
Visitation for Diane L. Tjaden will be held from 4-6 pm on Sunday, November 16, 2025, in Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 pm on Monday, November 17, 2025, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka. Diane will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery.
