Diane Westbrook Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 3, 2025.
Diane (Oliver) Westbrook, 72, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23rd at Crouse Hospital surrounded by her family and friends. A life resident of the Syracuse area, she retired from Catherine's where she worked for over 35 years. A lifelong lover of music, Diane lent her beautiful voice to several choirs throughout her life, including the Cotton Spiritualette Quartet and the Syracuse Mass Choir, where she sang joyfully alongside her husband. Her soulful harmonies uplifted all who heard her, and her dedication to gospel music was a true expression of her faith and spirit.
Outside of music, Diane found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid reader who could often be found with a good book in hand, and she cherished traveling, exploring new places and cultures. During the holiday season, she especially loved watching Hallmark Christmas movies, delighting in the warmth and wonder they brought.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jon Westbrook; and her mother, Elizabeth Oliver.
Diane is survived by her two daughters, SunSurraye (Brian) Speed and Cindy (Gregory) Cundiff; beloved grandchildren, Kennedy and Zahara Speed, Tyrin, Tyjzeem, Tyrique, and Tyjzmeir Cundiff; great-grandchildren, Tyrin II, Myles, Nazair, Samir, and Saiyre; special sister, Lynn Brinson; a host of cousins and friends; five sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 30th, from 10-11:30 a.m. at Second Olivet Missionary Baptist, 818 S. West Street, Syracuse. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:30 a.m. Diane will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Diane, please visit our Tree Store.
