Dianne E. Hurt, 84
Dianne E. Hurt, 84 of Ashland went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday evening, September 27, 2025 in University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center.
She was born on June 19, 1941 in Sulphur, Oklahoma the daughter of the late Marshall Dugger and Margie (nee Berger) Stewart.
Dianne graduated from Sulphur High School, Class of 1959.
She married the love of her life, Jimmy A. Hurt on September 5, 1959.
Dianne was a devoted member of Grace Church in Ashland where she taught Sunday School Class, elementary students. She was a previous member of First Baptist Church. Dianne's family and her faith were everything to her in her life.
In the late 1980's, Dianne founded and led the Sonshine Girls -an after-school Bible club at all Ashland Elementary Schools. For more than 16 years, Dianne led the class teaching the girls about Jesus, his salvation, and how much God loved them and had a plan for their life. She felt her purpose was teaching children about Christ's love, caring for her husband, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by one daughter, Dana (Doug) Shymske of Polk; two grandsons, Trevor (Danielle) Shymske of Ashland and Tyler Shymske of Columbus; and one sister, Carol (John) Richardson of California.
Dianne is preceded in death by her parents; her step-father Lindsay Stewart; her loving and devoted husband of 64 years of marriage, Jimmy Hurt who passed from this life on February 15, 2024; and a sister and brother-in-law LaNelle and Gene Pritchard.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home led by Pastors Josh Wilson and Dan Allan. Friends and family may call two hours prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A meal and time of fellowship will follow the service at Grace Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Church, 1144 West Main Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
