Dianne Short Obituary Dianne P. Short, 68, passed away on April 15, 2024 from pancreatic cancer.
Born in Ipswich, MA, she was the daughter of Paul C. and Dorothy (Jean) Short.
She was a lifelong resident of Rowley, graduating from Triton Regional High School in 1974. After briefly attending Salem State College, she began her long career in the field of mental health and human services. Starting out at Danvers State Hospital until its closure, she then spent the next 3 decades working in various community residential facilities. She retired from her most recent position as Program Manager at Eliot Community Human Services in Gloucester in 2022.
Dianne enjoyed gardening with her friend Jen, following tips handed down by her father. She enjoyed cooking and sharing recipes with family and friends. She loved her frequent trips to Negril, Jamaica, her 'happy place', and made many friends there over the years. She loved shopping for bargains, especially things for her beloved Ruby. She was passionate about animals, devoted to her horse, Spindy and her dog, Buddy. She was a great supporter of the Negril Pup Rescue in Jamaica and was looking forward to volunteering her time there on future trips.
Dianne is survived by her twin bother, David Short of Rowley; sister, Linda Seel and husband, Bruce, of Barre, Vermont; nephew Eric Seel and wife Tess Mulder of Williston, Vermont; niece, Hillary Seel and her husband, Matt Renaud; and great niece, Ruby Jean Renaud of Hardwick, Vermont; and 'adopted' nephew, Htun Sein and his partner, Poe Poh of Jericho, Vermont.
Dianne will be remembered by all who knew her as a kind and very generous soul. She never failed to acknowledge a birthday, wedding, anniversary, death, or holiday.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date so that all family can attend. In lieu of flowers Dianne wishes contributions be made to Negril Pup Rescue, Nonpareil Rd., Negril, Jamaica.
