Dicksie Lou Haukoos, the daughter of William and Alma (Burkhart) Burge, was born on April 20, 1928, in Estherville, Iowa. She died on October 11, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville at the age of 97 years.
Dicksie attended Estherville Schools before marrying Irvin Haukoos on December 8, 1947. To this union, eight children were born, Susan, Gene, Dean, Marilyn, Robert, Christine, Sharon, and Jane.
She worked at the Pantry Cafe, Wadco, and Sperry over the years.
In her free time, Dicksie enjoyed bowling, crocheting, embroidery, making hundreds of tea towels for family, and traveling with her family.
She was a member of Grandview Baptist Church, RSVP, and the VFW Auxiliary.
Dicksie is survived by her children, Susan (Kevin) Zitterich, Gene (Avis) Haukoos, Dean (Phyllis) Haukoos, Marilyn (Bruce) Anderson, Robert Haukoos, Christine (Eric) Robinson, Sharon Johnson, and Jane Hagerman; 16 grandchildren, Kevin Dean, Moriah, Brandy, Candy, Peter, Jenny, Jerry, Chad, Otis, Lori, Justin, Jared, Jessica, Jill, Alanna, and Mason; 25 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Haukoos, parents, William and Alma (Burkhart) Burge, daughter-in-law, Angie Haukoos, son-in-law, Doug Johnson, grandsons, Keith Von Hagen and Jayson Haukoos, sister, Ruth Burge, brothers, Richard and Donald Burge, and half sister, Mary Burge.
