Rita Yager, daughter of Gerald and Beverly (Oskvig) Geesman, was born on November 29, 1951 in Mankato, Minnesota. She passed away at her home in Ringsted, Iowa on October 18, 2025 at the age of 73.
Rita attended and graduated from Ringsted High School, class of 1970. She then earned her paralegal degree from Iowa Lakes Community College. She was united in marriage to Tom Yager on May 4, 1974 in Fenton, Iowa. The couple made their home in Ringsted. Rita worked for various banks and law offices in the area. She retired in 2022 after working at Stateline Coop for many years.
Rita loved going on vacations, especially the trips to Mexico and Hawaii, and cruises to the Bahamas and Alaska. The Iowa Hawkeyes were her team to watch, especially the basketball teams. Rita's family enjoyed trying the new recipes that she would find in cookbooks. She was so proud of her kids and grandchildren, making every attempt to be at all of their extracurricular activities.
She was a member of United Lutheran Church in Ringsted.
Left to cherish Rita's memory are her children, Sara (Troy) Junkermeier of Fairmont and their children, Gavin, Logan and Holden; Ryan (Stacie) Yager of Fenton and their children, Rylee, Hailey, Layton and Zoey; Sally (Mike) Yager of Estherville and their children, Cayson and Kennadi; siblings, Cyndi (Ron) Geesman; Janet (Leon) Hansen; Mary Kay (Jeff) Ulrich and Dennis Geesman; in-laws, Kern (Ingrid), Don, Ted, Joe (Kathy), Dave (Char) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She has been preceded in death by her husband, Tom; parents; GJ and Beverly; mother and father-in-law, Clarence and Helen and sister-in-law, Aeja.
