Margaret (Maggie) Mary Costigan went to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at West Hills Nursing Home after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Maggie was born in Staten Island, New York on November 17, 1950. Her parents moved the family to Florida. Maggie moved to Tennessee where she earned her bachelor's degree and continued her education by completing a master's degree in health and safety at University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Armed with her new knowledge, Maggie moved to Portsmouth, Virginia to work at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a Health and Safety Engineer. Maggie then returned to settle down in Knoxville, Tennessee where she worked as a Health and Safety Manager at Team Technology in Morristown, TN until she retired.
Margaret attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church while in Knoxville, and she participated in many of their activities. Maggie enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and volunteering at her church.
Margaret is preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Costigan; her mother, Beatrice Costigan; and her brothers, Kevin Costigan and Donald Costigan. She is survived by her brother, Kimbel Costigan.
A special thank you to Maggie's caregiver, Kim Busby and her other caregivers who were kind to her during her fight with Parkinson's. Maggie was loved by her special friends, Bonnie Carroll, Jim and Sheila Young, Robin Harriss, Melodie and Mike McDonald, and Theresa Miller.
The August 10th regular 11:30 AM Sunday Mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church is being offered with special prayers for the repose of Maggie Costigan. This will not be a funeral mass, though the priest will bless Maggie's ashes. Friends are invited to gather thereafter for a celebration of life at 1:30 PM at the home of Bonnie Carroll, 9935 Coward Mill Rd. Knoxville, TN. 37931. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Immaculate Conception Church, online at https://icknoxville.org/giving or via mail to 414 W. Vine Ave. Knoxville, Tennessee 37902.
