HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Diego A. Gallardo-Cristobal, 18, died unexpectedly on August 29, 2025 at New York-Presbyterian - Hudson Valley Hospital. He previously lived in Somers.
Diego was born and raised in Peru. He worked hard to help get his family to New York where he ran his own landscaping business. He was a 2025 graduate of Somers High School where he excelled as a student as an Honor Role student. He enjoyed art, and spent a lot of time in New York City where he liked to go dancing. Diego had just begun his college education at Siena College where he had been awarded a full four-year scholarship.
Diego is survived by his parents, Glady Cristobal and Omar Gallardo; his siblings, Teo Luca Gallardo, Austin Gallardo, and Charlotte Gallardo; his grandparents, Pablo Gllardo and Rafaela de Gallardo; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and teachers.
Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, September 2nd from 4 -8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, September 3rd at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by burial at St. Denis Cemetery, 604 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction.

HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Diego A. Gallardo-Cristóbal, de 18 años, falleció inesperadamente el 29 de agosto de 2025 en el Hospital Presbiteriano de Nueva York - Hudson Valley. Anteriormente residía en Somers.
Diego nació y creció en Perú. Trabajó arduamente para ayudar a su familia a llegar a Nueva York, donde dirigió su propio negocio de paisajismo. Se graduó en 2025 de la escuela secundaria Somers, donde destacó como estudiante con honores. Disfrutaba del arte y pasaba mucho tiempo en la ciudad de Nueva York, donde le gustaba bailar. Diego acababa de comenzar sus estudios universitarios en Siena College, donde recibió una beca completa de cuatro años.
A Diego le sobreviven sus padres, Glady Cristóbal y Omar Gallardo; sus hermanos, Teo Luca Gallardo, Austin Gallardo y Charlotte Gallardo; sus abuelos, Pablo Gallardo y Rafaela de Gallardo; y muchas tías, tíos, primos, amigos y maestros. El velatorio familiar se llevará a cabo el martes 2 de septiembre de 16:00 a 20:00 h en la Funeraria McHoul, Inc., ubicada en la Ruta 82 895, Hopewell Junction. Se ofrecerá una misa de entierro cristiano el miércoles 3 de septiembre a las 10:00 h en la Iglesia de San Columba, ubicada en la Ruta 82 835, Hopewell Junction, seguida del entierro en el Cementerio de San Denis, ubicado en la Carretera Beekman 604, Hopewell Junction.
