Dillon Michael Francis left our earthy home on October 29, 2025 to help our savior with his herd. Dillon was born November 17, 2008 to Michael Francis and Stephanie Bankhead in Powell Wyoming, he was welcomed home by sister; Linzy age 3 and brother Rolla age 14 months. In 2011 the family welcomed bother Steven.
His dad would tell you, Dillon was the definition of hell-on-wheels as a child. He was into everything, wanted to be a part and involved in everything his older siblings and dad were doing. Around the age of 4, Michael was teaching the kids how to ride a four-wheeler. When it was Dillons turn to drive, he went from a stand still to pinned as soon as he learned what the throttle was. This was only the beginning for Dillons' adrenaline addiction. With adrenaline came passion, and Dillons' passion was horses. Dillon was in a saddle from the time he could sit on his own, and he grew up riding his horse, Amber.
In 2016 one of Dillons biggest fans came into the family, Laura. In 2017 Michael and all the kids asked her to legally join the family. In 2018 Michael and Laura got married and the kids gained a mom. The family welcomed two more boys Tanner in 2020 and Tel in 2021. The family was complete. Dillon loved his family and was always willing to pitch in with the littlest two as much as he could, whether that was playing with them or changing diapers, he didn't mind.
As he got older, Dillon gained a new love for rough stock, whether it be riding bulls, bucking horses or on the ground fighting to keep the riders safe, he was fearless. Rough stock was something Dillon was great at. He won many events, but no matter where he was on the leader board he was the biggest cheer leader for his competitors. He wanted everyone to do their best, win and be safe. Dillon would often meet his brother, Rolla, in the arena after a great ride by either of them to celebrate the good ride.
Dillon spent many hours horseback cowboying for people all over Idaho and Montana and was truly a top hand. He would ride anything you told him or asked him to, even his favorite donkey, River. This summer he took on his final project horse Ace, this horse was his pride and joy. He put in countless hours and wet saddle blankets to make Ace into something to be proud of. Dillon was given the opportunity to live out his cowboy dream by the Mann family. They roped everything, especially if Dillon was the one deciding what was sick. The opportunity to ranch and live the cowboy way of life helped mold Dillon into the man he became. He gained a bonus set of parents in Jake and Shani as well as two extra brothers, Brek and Jhett.
Dillon is remembered by his family for his love, ambition and compassion; by his fellow ranchers as a top hand and by his friends for always being there. Dillon is remembered by his girlfriend Brylee, who he loved to the moon and back, by how caring, loving and supportive he was, and being "the best boyfriend ever."
Dillon had an endless love for the people that wanted to be a part of his life, but he wasn't putting in the effort if he wasn't receiving an equal effort. He was unapologetically Dillon and will be missed by everyone who knew him, and if you didn't know him you missed out on a great one. Dillon is survived by everyone whose life he touched, whether family or friend.
