Dinah Coles Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cater Funeral Home on Feb. 26, 2026.
Dinah Jean Coles, 75, of Jacksonville, MO, passed away February 11, 2026, following a tragic accident. She was born August 10, 1950 in Moberly, MO to Lillian (Frisbee) Flowers and Raymond Flowers.

On August 16, 1971, Dinah married Larry Coles and together they welcomed two children, Jason and Jessica. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. In her earlier years of marriage, Dinah enjoyed helping with the cattle and horses on the family farm, along with going on trail rides and traveling with her loved ones. She graduated from Madison High School and spent her life in Jacksonville, MO.

Dinah's greatest joy in life was her family, children and her grandchildren were her whole world. She truly was their best friend, always ready to listen, support and celebrate them. There was nothing she wouldn't do for her grandchildren – whether attending their sports activities or being there for life's moments, big and small. She especially treasured being "Me Maw" to Stella Coles, Belle and Raylee Rutherford, and a special young man, Blake, who she took under her wing. Her greatest happiness came from making lifelong memories with them and being a constant source of love and encouragement.

Dinah was involved with several volunteer projects throughout the years. Her most recent project was helping with a grant for new playground equipment in Jacksonville Park. It did her good to drive by and see people using and enjoying the new playground equipment.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Coles; mother, Lillian Flowers; sister, Deborah Stone and husband Ron; son, Jason Coles and wife Sandra; daughter, Jessica Rutherford and husband Nathan; grandchildren, Stella Coles, Belle and Raylee Rutherford, her special young man, Blake; niece, Sarah Stone; nephew, Matt Stone and wife Amy; as well as several other nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Flowers and her grandparents.

Dinah will be remembered for her loving heart, her devotion to family, and the enduring memories she created with those she held dear. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you remember Dinah by cherishing time with loved ones and holding your memories close.

Arrangements are pending at this time.
