Dinky Davis Obituary

Dinky Lee Davis, 74, of Oak Hill, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, West Virginia. Born on May 20, 1951, in Scarbro, West Virginia, Dinky was the son of the late Alexander Lawrence (Dink) Davis and Patricia Jane Davis.

Dinky was a proud and successful business owner and mechanic at Davis Tire and Muffler in Oak Hill. He was also a Master Mason, 32nd degree, a member of the Scottish Rite, and of Masonic Lodge 120 in Oak Hill.

Dinky's greatest passion was undoubtedly his family. He was the proud and loving father of his three girls, and he cherished the time spent with his grandson, Cole, and granddaughter, Gracemarie. He shared an incredibly special bond, both in business and in life, with his nephew, Johnny Dale, who Dinky loved like a son. Dinky was known for his humor, always ready with a joke or a story, and he found simple joy in the quiet pursuit of fishing. Dinky had a heart of gold and was well-known throughout the community for his generosity and warmth. His beloved "heart dog," Alex, preceded him in death, but the family takes comfort in knowing their unbreakable bond and deep love for her will continue in heaven.

Beyond his family, Dinky poured his heart and soul into his business, Davis Automotive. He was a dedicated and talented mechanic who truly loved his work, building a successful and respected enterprise. He was not only a skilled business owner but also a great boss, treating his employees with respect and care.

In addition to his parents, Dinky was preceded in death by his brothers, Rocky Dale Davis and Jeff Edward Davis; and a great-nephews, Justin Alexander Davis and Mark Allen Davis.

Left to cherish on his memory are his daughters, Kimberly Jean Davis (Samantha), Michelle Lynn Riser (Michael), and Autumn Marie Davis-Hanks (Leonard); grandchildren, Cole Garrett Allen and Gracemarie Davis Hanks; sisters, Donna Davis Copley (Jim), Connie Davis Meadows (Jerry); and a number of nieces and nephews.

Dinky also leaves behind a cherished network of lifelong friends. A special mention goes to his lifelong best friend and "partner in crime," Roger McVey. Their bond was unbreakable and provided decades of shared laughter and adventure. Dinky also maintained a loving and supportive friendship with his previous wife, Cathy Davis, until the very end. The family extends sincere gratitude to Marty and Kim Massey for their years of dedicated service to Davis Automotive and their enduring friendship with Dinky.

Services and Masonic Rites will be at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at High Lawn Funeral Home in Oak Hill, with Pastor Jim Bowyer officiating and Masonic Rites by Lodge 120 of Oak Hill. Interment will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill.

Friends may call on the family at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at High Lawn Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Oak Hill Masonic Lodge 120 or to the Bowers Hospice House.
