Dixie Lee Dunmyer, age 83, of Mesquite, NV passed away on February 27, 2025 at her home. She was born on September 14, 1941 in Monroe, MI to Vernon Christopher Cousino and Daisey Bell Broumett Cousino. Dixie attended St John’s Catholic School from the first to the eighth grade. After the eighth grade she went to St Mary Academy in Monroe, MI an all-girls Catholic School and graduated with the class of 1959.
On February 8, 1964 she married Richard L Cook in the St Michael’s Catholic Church. Together they had three children Richard L Cook Jr of Michigan, Martin R Cook of Nevada and Natalie A Cook of Massachusetts. On June 13, 1992 she married her loving and devoted husband Roger Alan Dunmyer. They were married for 32 years. Roger added two more sons to her family that she deeply loved Joseph Dunmyer of Colorado and James Dunmyer of Ohio.
Dixie’s love of all animals and her love for her family was extreme. The highlights of her life were her husband, children and grandchildren; they meant the entire world to her. She worked in retail sales for nine years and then worked for 13 years for the La-Z-Boy Chair Company Corporate Headquarters in Monroe, MI. After moving to Nevada, she worked for Dr. Douglas Zinni for six years. Dixie made dear friends everywhere she was. She has many friends in Monroe, Michigan and Mesquite, Nevada and St. George, Utah.
Dixie is survived by her husband Roger Dunmyer, two sons Richard L Cook, Martin (Rene) Cook; a daughter Natalie Anne (Matthew Dework) Cook; ten grandchildren Misha Cook of Washington, Braxton Cook of Montana, Baylee Cook of Montana, Bronson Cook of Montana, Devan Cook of Michigan, Allyson Cook of Michigan, Grayson Dework of Massachusetts, Zachary Dunmyer of Colorado, Faith Dunmyer of Colorado, Ryleigh Dunmyer of Ohio; three great grandchildren Waylynn, Dean and Case. She is preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Daisey Cousino and a son Joseph Dunmyer.
Family will be holding a private celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St Jude Children Hospital or Mesquite Animal Shelter or the Leukemia Foundation in honor of Dixie Dunmyer.
